Below is an illustration explaining how a lot of similar and competing products appear the same. There are only a few unique and legendary products that are truly one-of-a-kind and are clearly differentiated and worth investing in that will help your quality of life. Professional wedding photography in Houston is one of those services. But, how do you differentiate between one photographer from another? After all, you may be familiar with that maxim ‘we’re all photographers‘ or your uncle is a “photographer”. Why should you invest in a luxury wedding photography experience inside of a luxury wedding events venue like The Astorian? And on top of that…what differentiates one professional wedding photographer in Houston from wedding photographer in Houston? How do you choose?

Custom vs Generic. Which Do You Value?

We live in an Amazon world. We find many competing products similarly priced that provide results the next product claims. One product is priced more than another, another product priced cheaper, and a bunch of products priced the same. How do you choose which product to purchase? How do you differentiate between those products when their specifications and product descriptions may sound similar or the same? Why do you choose one product over another in that case? When you’ve found the product that will solve your problem, brand and price may be your key determinants when choosing the product. Now, this, of course, is for those super competing products like an iPhone charging cable. We get it… The product is mass produced and able to be priced cheaper…plus they aren’t customized. All you need is a phone charger. You can also buy variants that will work for your iPhone at the gas station beside the cash register.

What about when you want to cover your large Henredon couch without rehapolstering it? You just want to buy a slip-cover from Bed Bath and Beyond. Of course, what happens? The slip-covers they sell are 3 inches too short…Annoying…this was a couch valued at $4,000 that was given to you, and you want the color to be navy blue opposed to brown/green color, and you don’t want to replace the upholstery and cushions because the couch is still in great shape. You just want to change the color. What do you do? You search for a company which makes custom slip-covers, and you send them your couch’s specifications to be custom made.

This is where custom products and made-to-order products and services come into play - when the solution is more complex than a basic, generic one-size-fits-all solution and the need for this solution is necessary.

Custom Products For The Discerning Bride

Custom and designer products are more expensive. Why? Because they do not come from pre-made specifications that machines are programmed to create. Instead, these custom products have to be designed from scratch and with better quality raw materials: measured, cut, assembled, tweaked, etc…in accordance to the customer’s wishes and for their distinct purposes and needs of why they’re commissioning this custom, one-of-a-kind product to be created.

What is the purpose of investing in a particular custom product when similar products that are cheaper and produced quickly and can be accessible quicker? What is the value of the custom product that is made to order and accomplishes a specific purpose a generic product comes close to but one must accept what it cannot exactly do? There are reasons someone would want a custom product.

Does a person have specific clothing measurement needs because they are taller than the average person, so they have clothes custom tailored and ordered-to-fit? Is it because that one car enthusiast wants performance or features that a car manufacturer does not include - maybe they prefer a super charger vs turbo? What about the woman who carries a Louis Vuitton and wants a similar purse but with different type of exotic leather that a local leather shop can create for her, and she would pay more than what a standard Louis Vuitton would cost. Think of the equestrian rider who prefers to have a custom saddle made for them and their horse vs buying pre-made saddles off the rack. Why would they want to pay additional price to receive a similar product at higher prices than the cheaper alternative that also does the job? They have specific preferences they need accomplished. Specifically, they want to have a certain crosstitch design in the leather and they also may want their initials debossed on the side of the saddle, but they want their initials in a particular spot because they wear a coat as they ride that covers part of the saddle, so the initials have to be in a particular spot that is still visible to spectators. You say…they could get a saddle with a similar design off the rack? Maybe something similar. But not exactly what they want. This is why you special order a BMW M5 with Aqua Blue seat stitching, instead of, normal white stitching. This is why you order custom dress shoes from Italy. And this is why you order custom suits from a New York suit maker. You desire particular results that are not currently replicable in the market. Yes, there are many competing products/services that come close, but they do not accomplish exactly what you desire.

We Are A Service Provider

This is what David Baker Studios LLC will do for you on your wedding day. We create for you more than pictures. We are a service provider that creates a custom product and service around you and based on what you specifically want. Our personable customer service approach creates the foundation for your south asian wedding photography in Houston to be made. We put emphasis on creating a comprehensive plan that considers logistics to allow for the time each event during your wedding day fits into so we can make time for all of those important family, group, wedding and groom wedding-day portraits, and fun candid and photojournalistic spontaneous moments. For example, we anticipate during certain portions of the wedding day to get behind and build-in additional time during those specific events and will openly inform you of these times, so if that does happen during your wedding day, your wedding is still on time or slightly behind, opposed to, super behind that it could’ve become. From our many years of destination south asian wedding photography. We are aware of those areas that are prone to naturally falling behind during wedding days. If you’re looking for the cookie-cutter approach, we are not your professional destination wedding photography company based in Houston. If you are looking for a Houston wedding photographer who will create a custom timeline for your wedding, help you problem-solve possible issues during the day and give you immediate and real-time professional advice from our professional experience photographing with different couples, inside different venues, and under certain conditions. Will you please talk to us?

Choose Us For Top Personable Customer Service

Our personable customer service approach is about connecting with you before your wedding during Meet-and-Greet and Wedding Overview Meeting and during our Planning and Timeline meetings, so that when my team photographs you during your wedding day, you are familiar with me, able to see me as the expert you hired to lead you and your wedding party through your once-in-a-lifetime wedding day and work alongside your luxury destination planner. Like Piper and Muse planning company based in Houston, Texas.

We Want To Learn About Your Wedding

We put emphasis on learning about you and your wedding. We will meet you (Zoom or in-person) at least two times for your Meet-and-Greet and Wedding Overview meeting and meet with you another time closer to your wedding date and after all other wedding details have been finalized (what time Houston Makeup artist Irina Borodina would arrive before your Getting-ready, e.g.) to discuss and create your wedding-day Timeline during your Timeline and Planning meeting with us. Again - we are available to meet through Zoom and in-person - you are free to decide what works for your schedule. We put emphasis on connecting with each of our unique wedding Bride’s because each wedding is unique and we are all unique people who do not want the same things as other people. After all, that is why we are called individuals lol.

Meet-and-Greet and Wedding Overview

During this first meeting, Meet-and-Greet and Wedding Overview, we talk about your vision for what you want to do during your once-in-a-lifetime wedding day, so we get an idea for what you want to do and learn what you’re like as a person and you get an idea what I’m like as a person and professional Houston Wedding Photographer. We prefer to take the extra time and effort to get to know you for who you are, so we comprehensively create our services around you to create what you want during your wedding day.

Timeline and Planning

During our second meeting, Timeline and Planning, we specifically focus on and create your Timeline for your wedding day. This meeting will happen after your other wedding vendors have been chosen and reserved. Based on the typical way a wedding day occurs. Modern luxury weddings we have photographed in Houston typically include three main events we start with and create the rest of your Timeline from: Getting-ready, Ceremony, and Reception. We create a timeline outlining those core areas then look within each of those distinct core areas and segment individual events time limits. We start with a general framework and then move into each core events and segment each of those core areas. For example, during Getting-ready, there is Hair and Makeup begins, Photo Team Arrives and Photo Coverage begins, Photograph Bride Accessories and Designer Wedding Dress, Photograph Bride During Hair and Makeup, Photograph Candids and Food for Getting-read, Photograph Bridal Party While Wearing Getting-ready Outfits Inside Hotel Room, etc... Then, we go within each of those main areas and segment those core areas to place Bridal party getting-ready pictures in hotel room or by the Hotel Zaza pool-side area, what time Bride and Groom First-look will happen at church or at Hotel Icon in Houston and after Bridal party gets dressed.

How do we determine how long to allocate for different wedding-day events?

Based on our years of professional wedding photography experience and leading many brides successfully through complex wedding-day timelines. During your Timeline and Planning meeting, we estimate how long it will take for you to get into your dress, how long it will take for your mom to close up your dress and for you two to share a moment that is not rushed but isn’t dragged out, either. Oh…and will you be opening a gift or reading a letter? Those additional events do require additional time. Yes…they don’t require a lot of time, but we’ve still got to allow for those happenings when creating your wedding-day timeline. If I see we can technically fit it but time will be tight. I will let you know, and I will let you know during our meeting that I will try to move through this moment faster than normal because we didn’t have much time to fit it in, in the first place. I share this with you because I want you to know I am not a pushy person. But, if time gets tight. We feel better when you are aware of these circumstances before your wedding day, so if I push things along fast, you are aware and you are also prepared for this.

See how creating a wedding timeline includes a lot of grey? We are experts at creating wedding-day timelines for weddings, including those we have photographed at Hotel Zaza in the Museum District in Houston.

Receive The Coverage You Envisioned

Our personable customer service approach also allows us to get an idea for what type of coverage you want and for both of us to connect with each other. We feel it is equally important as we get to know you and become familiar with you as you become familiar with us. Because after all…you will choose us to guide you through your wedding day and we will help you from the beginning of your wedding planning process to album and print delivery after your wedding.

We have found we have the best experience between wedding couple and photography team when we both connect and have a basic understanding about the other. Why? How have you felt during certain situations when you didn’t have much confidence or trust in someone when you gave them your time? How did you feel around them? Times I have been in that position, I would feel agitated and wondered if they actually knew how to do their job - thinking to myself why did I give them money?!?

Importance of Timeline and Plan For More Time

Imagine this wedding-day scenario if you were our modern luxury bride: what if your hair and makeup takes 10 mins longer, and we have 20 mins to do 30 mins of your Bridal party pictures? Your wedding day Bridal session at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Houston (ohhh… and budget 2-5 min to walk from hotel room to elevator, walk through lobby to that neat spot for your Bridal party pictures - the reason you chose this specific hotel - sooo these are MUST HAVE pictures - so, we can’t get the same pictures at the church or during your wedding reception at Hotel Zaza Museum District in Houston). What will be your reaction when you realize there will be less time for your Bridal Party pictures than initially planned in the timeline we planned (again…hair and makeup took longer because one of your bridesmaids has very curly hair she wanted straightened). These pictures must be finished when your limo arrives to take you and your bridesmaids to the church for your wedding ceremony. The car would arrive shortly (and you also know from our planning meetings, we had decided it would be best to be waiting for the car, so we could all ride to the church once it arrived because of the close times between leaving Marriott Marquis in downtown Houston and arriving to the Catholic church for your Bride and groom first-look). And you also know that you have to leave by that designated time because it takes 15 mins to get to the church from the hotel. And you also know that you have decided to do a First-look with your Fiance, so you could take Immediate family and group pictures before your wedding ceremony (since you two would have already seen each other), so you could take your couple pictures inside the church for 10 mins after your ceremony, two quick poses, so you can get to The Astorian Events Venue because you have a special entrance with a performance planned.

We Openly Let You Know About Potential Difficulties During Planning

How will you react during your wedding day if this happens to you during your wedding day? Then, imagine we didn’t take the extra time and effort to connect with you and let you know we have contingencies in place if we need to move to Plan B? Of course, I would’ve told you time is very important during your Timeline and Planning Meeting. I would also let you know during your meeting before your wedding. If this is what you want to do, you and your bridal party would need to start getting ceremony ready by xyz time because that will take 10 mins. I would remind you your photo session would be tight and these are the other domino-effect issues we may run into stemming from this one set-back. Why do we do this problem-solving and include you in the process? I would rather you be aware of those difficulties up front, rather than, become worried on your wedding day. Just my style to have everyone in-the-know before potential difficulties arise. Because after all…your wedding is a dynamic event full of uncertainty, dependent variables, and nothing is constant!

We just went through a scenario where I shared my experiences with you during your Timeline and Planning meeting. And I gave contributing claim to why I prefer for us to connect with each other and to include you in the planning process because if difficulties do arise on your wedding day. When you have my trust as an expert who has experience problem-solving during fast-paced and dynamic wedding days. Then, I would be able to lead you and your wedding party to success by agreeing on a new plan that was created during your wedding day. For example, I would share with you that we are able to do both locations for your wedding day bridal, but we would only be able to do one pose at each location, instead of, two like we had planned because hair and makeup took 15 minutes longer than anticipated.

Now, what if I didn’t take the extra effort to connect with you and be involved creating your wedding day timeline???

How Might You React If We Never Connected?

How would you react during your wedding day if your wedding photographer in Houston treated you impersonally, like you are client #3164? Hmmm…I am not you. But, if I was in your place, and I did not learn about my Hotel zaza wedding photographer in Houston or they were vague and evasive if I asked them important what if questions. I would be weary if they were aware of everything that your complex wedding day required - especially when you and they had initially planned for a certain amount of time during your wedding day for an event that now is close to not being able to take place. What thoughts would be running through your mind? If that Modern luxury wedding photographer in Houston did not take the time to meet and connect with you and share with you possible what if’s and how they would solve potential problems through their solution - if those problems did actually arise during your wedding day - I could imagine you may get some anxiety and begin to seriously worry. How do people normally react when they are worried? Scared, agitated, annoyed, sad? How would you react?

What if that modern luxury wedding photographer did, in fact, share a past wedding story with you about how a preceding bride was guided through her wedding day by that martha stewart wedding photographer, it was revealed that past Houston Bride had an anxiety attack during getting-ready, had originally planned 40 min and three locations for her bridal, and that was leveled to one location for only 10 min because her ceremony started 20 mins from when the Bridal session began!?! And what if you were told how that Crystal Ballroom wedding photography resolved that less than ideal situation to a success story - and it was true!!! (yep…that happened to me. Because I had taken the time to get to know her and we created a legit plan. Instead of her being scared or worried. She listened to me and she ended up very happy with her wedding pictures I delivered to her.)

Are you aware we have connected with many bride’s about photographing their destination wedding before your wedding and have successfully guided them through their wedding day? And do you know how those brides were with us? They looked to us for guidance. They listened to us and were anxious for us to tell them what to do next. And they were also expectantly looking for our confidence in what we were telling them to do as experts who have helped many bride’s before them during their wedding day at Marriott Marquis in downtown Houston during their wedding days for getting ready. These Houston West University Brides were able to be themselves around us because we took the time to connect with them before their wedding and during Meet and Greet and Wedding Overview and Timeline and Planning meetings.

The Timeline:

As your wedding day nears and your other important wedding vendors have been solidified (caterer, florist, decor and linen rental, cake designer, string quartet for your ceremony and wedding band for reception, etc…) and their timelines figured out (what times they will arrive to set up or begin decorating your ceremony and reception space). We will help you create your official wedding-day timeline we will use to guide you through your wedding day. We like to design your wedding-day timeline and have our say in what your final timeline says if your luxury destination wedding planner or Houston wedding planner created for you. Why? Because we have specific setup needs before prime events to create those pictures consistent with what you chose us by on our website. Plus, we have photographed many types of weddings: small and simple, small and complex, large and simple, and large and VERY complex (multi-locations, multi-events while at different locations, strict times that MUST be followed, so wedding doesn’t get behind, stressed client’s, happy-go-lucky clients, client’s who also look at the timeline every 2 minutes, and I had another south asian bride in houston who had an anxiety attack during her wedding day. Her couple portraits were not going well because she was difficult to work with because of her anxiety…of course I was not pressuring her. So, the time we had designated for her second outfit, she canceled that. Ok. Then, later on that night at Safari Texas Ranch in Sugar Land, she changed into her second outfit and told me, “you have five minutes!“ I instantly knew what to do inside the Texas Ballroom near the stairs. She liked those pictures) lol - yep…I’ve been there… So, this is the importance of hiring and connecting with your professional wedding photography company in Houston: you are able to be yourself if things get difficult, instead of, feeling like you should be a certain way. Be who you are. That’s all I ask :-)

Ask Your Photographer How They Pursue Their Continuing Education

Do all professional houston wedding photographers create beautiful works of art on your wedding day they have spent years mastering their professional wedding photography skill, so when we have been told by south asian Bride’s “…you have 5 minutes“, and we successfully created those pictures without issue and before the 5 minutes were up? Do all wedding photographers in Houston learn, practice, and master their lighting, posing, read and study business and leadership books to better lead you through your wedding day? Are all professional south asian wedding photographers able to control their emotions so they are able to problem-solve during a fast-paced and dynamic wedding day where the pressure is solely on the Hotel Zaza wedding pictures in Houston to create those pictures and deliver them successfully. Does your wedding photographer also handpick their second photographer and videography team to ensure that their images are consistent between the First and Second photographer and also do both photographers understand each other?

The answer is no!

Not all houston wedding photography teams care about pursuing their human capital to get better. And not all photography teams make an effort to create a connection with the wedding Bride before her wedding day. After all, this isn’t my wedding. This is your wedding!

“We Thought __________ Would Photograph My Wedding”

We have learned how to pose, light, photograph, and spent years perfecting our skills to keep them sharp and solidified - and we are able to do this while inside different types of wedding venues that have difficult lighting situations, like The Astorian and Hughes Manor.

Some studios are concerned with keeping overhead costs down, so they outsource a lot of their weddings to other photographers who are not consistent in skills, experience photographing, and style they photograph in. How would you feel if you called my wedding photography studio in Houston, we had a great conversation, you were engaged and excited for me to photograph your wedding. Then, I tell you xyz will photograph your wedding…not me, David, Lead Wedding Photographer in David Baker Studios? Would you consider switching wedding companies in Houston?

I once helped another studio with a wedding as Solo wedding photographer. When I connected with the Client at the beginning of their wedding. The Groom looked at me with my camera. He was thinking obviously this is a Photographer. I tell him who I am and who I am representing. The Groom told me, “where is __________? I was led to believe __________ would photograph my wedding, not you“. He did let me know he meant no offense. But I definitely see where his frustration is originating from. Think about it…You choose The Bell Tower on 34th as your luxury Houston wedding venue in Houston. You invested a lot of money. Then, on your wedding day and after paying for different vendors and all of their expenses. You have pressures from different parties. Then, some random person walks up to you and says they will be the one trusted with doing the job you expected that preferred person to be assigned doing. Yep…that was awkward. Of course, I did great and the Client was happy with my performance.

Are All Professional Photographers Overly Serious?

When you choose your Hotel Icon wedding photographer. What personality and demeanor would you prefer to be around for your entire wedding day? A destination wedding photographer who gets the job done without being overly stiff and serious, all the while maintaining professional distance? When you spoke to them. What resonated with you? When you listened to them tell you they would help you during your entire wedding process and guide you through your wedding day, pose you through different events because you let them know you are not good at posing and don’t know what to do and they assured you not to worry because they will be there to help you through your entire wedding day and help you look your best while you’re wearing your designer wedding dress, and they let you know they would help you create your timeline for you?

How would that make you feel? Would you feel relaxed and feel like you can breathe easier? Would you feel less tense about your wedding? Now, imagine if your Professional Houston wedding photographer took themselves very serious…to the point you wonder to yourself - is this guy for real? They have no personality…

We prefer to be ourselves, while getting the job done. When you first talk to us over the phone to inquire about our services to when we say hi at the beginning of your wedding day. We are consistent with what you first met and we remain the same throughout the process we help you through your wedding.
